DMOC was founded in 1996 by a pioneering engineer and craftsman with one purpose in mind—a superior manufacturing experience for his clients. Over the last 20 years, the DMOC team has grown substantially and has gained a high-level of expertise to better help our clients with their simple or complex projects.  DMOC  is dedicated to delivering  master craftsmanship, quality production, cost-effective pricing, timeliness, and expert engineering support.

Simply said, our objective is to deliver ON-TIME and ON-TARGET, every time.


Thane Rivers
Founder, President, Chairman of the Board

Thane was born in Inglewood, CA and raised in Torrance, CA. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics. He also earned a Masters of Science in Astronautical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. Thane served as a Service Warfare Officer aboard the USS Chandler, USS Gary, USS John A. Moore and as Combat Systems Officer for COMDESRON 33.

During his Naval service, Thane achieved a technical mastery of many sophisticated shipboard systems. More importantly, he honed his ability to inspire and manage the amazing people who maintain and operate these complex systems. Building on the knowledge and experience acquired after years of naval service, Thane founded Diversified Manufacturing of California, Inc. (DMOC) in 1996 to provide creative engineering solutions and  manufacturing services. Thane has built DMOC into a vibrant company that enjoys the repeat business of clients such as Kenworth Trucks, Jacuzzi Spas, Legoland, and Watkins Manufacturing.

Clever and tenacious, he is a man who understands “A message to Garcia”. Thane Rivers is a “nut and bolts” guy who is down to earth, listens well and understands his customers’ needs. He is highly sought after for his ability to think “outside of the box,” and he solves problems with practical, timely, and innovative ideas that deliver results.

Thane lives in Carlsbad, CA with his wife Jerri. They have two adult sons, both Eagle Scouts. The family enjoys active and invigorating time together boating, camping, off road motorcycling, mountain biking, hunting, skiing and wake boarding. He volunteers his time mentoring youth and in serving in his local community.

Jerri Rivers
Founder, Controller, Office Manager

Jerri received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Marketing from California State Univeristy, Chico. Since that time she has gained over 20 years experience in marketing, accounting, and finance. Jerri serves many functions at DMOC and is integral to DMOC’s success.

Jerri live in Carlsbad, CA with her husband Thane. In her free time, Jerri enjoys cooking, playing the piano, and reading.

Steve Shallenberger

Steve was born in Provo, UT, and graduated from the United States Air Force Academy where he received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering Mechanics. Following graduation, Steve went through pilot training in the Euro-Nato Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) program in Wichita Falls, TX where he earned the right to fly the F-16 for the US Air Force. Steve served as an F-16 Fighter Pilot for 10 years, culminating his career as an instructor at the US Air Force Weapons School.

He received his M.B.A in 2017 from Wharton Business School (University of Pennsylvania), graduating with a double major in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management. Concurrent with his M.B.A he gained valuable experience interning with Graham Partners, a Private Equity firm in Philadelphia, PA, and LeBaronBrown Industries, a unique private investment vehicle in New York City.

He is married to a beautiful wife, enjoys his three rambunctious kids, and gets out skiing, surfing, and backpacking whenever possible. Steve is an ambitious reader and is fluent in Korean.

Sean Baldus

Sean Baldus grew up in Carlsbad, CA.  Sean studied Mechanical Engineering at Northern Arizona University and is currently enrolled in Palomar College’s CNC Programming course.  Sean comes to DMOC with a strong set of machining and fabrication experience.  Sean is a qualified 3- and 5- axis CNC Machinist, qualified to inspect with the Romer Absolute Arm CMM and Laser Scanner, qualified to inspect with the API II Laser Tracker, and is a qualified forklift driver.

Sean has high aspirations and a bright future.  In his free time, Sean loves to fly, work on aircraft parts and engines, scuba dive, spear fish, and read books.

Gene Mills
Precision Programming Contractor

Gene Mills is arguably the best CNC programmer and machinist on the market.  Genes ability to accomplish complex, difficult to machine parts is unmatched.  DMOC is lucky to be able to contract work to Gene Mills in supporting DMOC’s operations and production.

Brian Peterson
Precision Programming Contractor

Brian Peterson contracts with DMOC frequently on challenging projects, especially on Aluminum and Phenolic Honeycomb core jobs.  Brian Peterson brings an incredible attitude, top-shop level knowledge, in-depth CNC enhancement experience, and top-of-industry experience programming and machining honeycomb core, plastics, and other metallic and non-metallic components.  DMOC is lucky to contract work to Brian Peterson in supporting DMOC’s operations and production.
